We acquired the land at Cladich on the south shores of Loch Awe and the Cladich Fold of Highland cattle in 2001. At that time the fold consisted of only five cows and we resolved then to re-build it to become once again a premier fold of international standing. The fold can be traced through succession, back to the 1870s and while such longevity has a certain cachet, we expect to be judged on our performance now. Highland cattle were central to the lives of our predecessors and now too have become central to ours!
From our small foundation stock of five elderly cows and by careful subsequent stock selection and introducing new bloodlines, we now have several bulls and around forty cows and their followers. Our bulls are producing offspring of a consistent size and of a conformation which we favour and which is typical of the west highland type. Colours range from white, through yellow to red and to black.
Highland Cattle Breeders are always welcome, by appointment. There are also many interesting things to see and do in the area. We are 10 miles north of Inveraray and approximately 28 miles east of Oban. There is a good range of accommodation available locally and we would be happy to help you find something suitable if required.
